3L Network for Principal Supervisors

Leaders Leading Leaders

The Network

By developing principals' instructional leadership, principal supervisors can play a powerful role in boosting school quality and student success. Over the past five years, FourPoint has supported principal supervisors from districts across the country through the 3L network. During this annual convening, principal supervisors work alongside their peers to build the knowledge and skills essential to their role.

The Experience

On July 16-17, 3L will convene in Omaha, Nebraska. Over the course of these two days, principal supervisors will:

  • Examine the impact of principal supervisors on principal practice
  • Explore and apply equity-driven leadership practices to the supervisor role
  • Exchange best practices with colleagues from districts across the country

Learning each day is facilitated by experienced leadership coaches, including Steve Gering, former chief leadership development officer at Chicago Public Schools and Valda Valbrun, former administrator and executive director of organizational development for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

The 3L meeting is intentionally kept small – with no more than 50 participants – to ensure that each district team receives individualized support that it can use to meaningfully improve practice.

The Impact

Year after year, principal supervisors have given 3L high marks, lauding it as some of the best professional learning they have received in their role.

“This was the first time I’ve heard about a spectrum of coaching. To me, this was more valuable than any coaching training I’ve had before.”

“The networking activities were powerful and allowed for great learning from other districts.”

“The protocols really allowed me to think through a two-year issue and make a solid plan for addressing it.”
