Hugh Hermann

Associate

Biography

Hugh Hermann is a passionate educator, continually building expertise in the field of career and technical education (CTE). Hugh began his career by launching a fully encompassing middle school Project Lead the Way (PLTW) technology and engineering program. Following three years as a PLTW teacher, Hugh expanded his skills, moving to a fully comprehensive high school, where he taught automotive, digital design, electricity and electronics, engineering, graphic arts, and metalworking, including welding. Hugh is well versed in all trades and continues to keep a constant finger on the pulse of industry needs by working closely with business and trade organizations.

Following his years of teaching, Hugh served as Milwaukee Public Schools’ CTE Coordinator, overseeing programs in 11 high schools offering a total of 26 distinct programs of study. Working with many trade organizations and other postsecondary education partners, Hugh leveraged his background to help create a variety of strong career and college pathway programs, including a K-12 PLTW pathway, as well as a grant partnership with Marquette University, through which over 200 MPS teachers were trained to teach computer science and programming.

In 2015, Hugh transitioned to Orange County Public Schools (Orlando, FL), where he serves as an assistant director of postsecondary Career and Technical Education programs. In his current role, Hugh works with high school and adult populations for career training in healthcare, including programs in Dental Assisting, Practical Nursing, and Surgical Technology, among others. Hugh works with adult education learners for English Language Services and Adult General Education programs. He recently developed and implemented a pilot co-enrollment program in which students earn a GED as well as a Health Unit Coordinator career certificate. As part of FourPoint’s College, Career, and Life Readiness (CCLR) team, Hugh can help transform your community’s disjointed career exploration and CTE efforts into a coherent, P-20 system.
