Michael Harris currently serves as Senior Director, Talent Management at Milwaukee Public Schools. Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is the largest urban school district in the State of Wisconsin. The district serves over 70,000 students, and has a staff of over 10,000. Michael coordinates and leads a team of 30 to recruit and staff 156 schools in the district. He has developed and implemented the Employee Experience survey to improve retention efforts in the district.
Previously, Michael was the Executive Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning in the Clarke County School District in Athens, Georgia. He worked and supported middle and high school-based administrators to improve teaching and learning in the district, as well as developed improvement plans for both administrators and professional teaching staff. He also served as the Executive Director of Talent Management for the district managing and implementing all recruitment and retention efforts in the district. He also served on the University of Georgia induction and support team.
As a school principal at both the middle and high school levels, Michael was able to create a positive climate and culture within schools, resulting in his high school and alma mater, Riverside University High School in Milwaukee as the most requested high school during his tenure as principal.
