Ray Weaver

Biography

Ray Weaver is a UT Dallas alumnus with a career entirely in education and focused on serving students and families from disadvantaged backgrounds. He taught as a Teach for America corps member in Houston ISD and then served as Director of Program for a Houston non-profit that connects high school students to high impact after-school and summer learning opportunities worldwide. That work deepened his connection into HISD where he had the opportunity as Senior Manager in the newly created College Readiness Department to provide direct support to middle and high school counselors at over 100 campuses, realizing a $70 million increase in student scholaships and financial awards.

Joining Hobsons (now PowerSchool) marked Ray’s move into education technology, supporting Naviance (college and career software as a service) partnerships in large school districts nationally. From there he joined BloomBoard, focused educator professional growth and salary advancement via micro-credentials with a concentration on rural districts, an area of great need and opportunity related to House Bill 3 (HB3) – the landmark Texas legislation passed in 2019. Ray directly supported more than a dozen districts with application processes to secure over $250,000 in federal and state grants to support National Board Certification cohorts and mentor teachers.

Increasing his focus on rural communities led Ray to serve as Director of the Rural College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Accelerator Program with the Texas Impact Network (TIN) – a joint venture between Educate Texas and The Commit Partnership – where he oversaw the development and delivery of a program that partners with rural school districts to increase the number of students who graduate meeting the definition of success aligned to the HB3 CCMR Outcomes Bonus.

Ray currently provides advisory services to organizations serving the K-12 market. He lives with his wife and their three young sons on their farm south of Texas A&M University in rural Grimes county.
