Who We Are / Our Team

Sharon Gaskins

Sharon Gaskins is a seasoned senior executive who brings over 25 years of experience leading transformation efforts in school districts, local and state governments, and non-profit organizations. She has served as an organization leader, a trusted adviser to senior public officials, and a coach and consultant to public and nonprofit leaders. Sharon couples her work background with a fresh perspective in all that she does and understands the unique challenges that leaders face as they work to make sustainable, structural change. She is passionate about helping leaders tackle systemic challenges related to race, income, and disability status in order to achieve just and equitable outcomes for all.

Sharon is a strategic leader who has successfully built teams that achieve measurable results for the communities they serve. As Deputy Education Officer for Mayor Michael Nutter, Sharon coordinated Philadelphia’s successful advocacy for increased state funding, leading to $51 million in additional funds for the district and the adoption of a new school funding formula. As a leader in the District of Columbia’s state education agency and school district, she executed initiatives that improved education outcomes for at-risk students and students with disabilities, including a program that led to math and reading gains for students in D.C.’s lowest performing schools. She also led multiple efforts to safely bring students and educators back into classrooms during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As an education consultant and leadership coach, Sharon helps public sector leaders navigate their professional growth, build high performing teams, and make a positive impact in their work. Sharon currently serves as a Strategic Facilitator for Talbot County Public Schools (TCPS), a role funded by the Blueprint Accountability and Implementation Board. Since Fall 2023, Sharon has partnered with TCPS leaders as they undertake the transformative work required to meet the Blueprint’s objectives, including the development of Blueprint implementation plans and the implementation of performance management routines to drive their work forward.
