Dr. Viticia Thames is a FourPoint senior associate. She is also the Director of Organizational Learning and Development for Urban Teachers where she oversees all external and internal research for the organization and is responsible for the organization’s System Map and Results Framework, which is aligned to performance management metrics and continuous improvement learning cycles that foster both individual and organizational learning and development.
Prior to joining FourPoint, Dr. Thames worked at the World Bank and Asian Development Bank using what was coined as an “East Meets West” solution for Modernizing Teacher Monitoring and Evaluation Systems in seven countries. This included using Western individual teacher classroom observations (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) and lessons from high-performing East Asian countries that identified those most credited for others’ improvement for career advancement, rather than individual performance alone. As a doctoral candidate, Dr. Thames worked with Bob Moses on a National Science Foundation Discovery K-12 Grant to revise Algebra Project curriculum through iterative cycles of teacher coaching and teacher feedback in Title I High Schools across four states.
